The quickest way in Settings
Open Settings, go to General and choose About. Model Name shows a name such as iPhone 15 Pro. Tap Model Number if you also need the A-number.
Check the A-number
Cannot open the phone? Older models show the A-number on the back; some newer models show it inside the SIM tray. Compare it with Apple’s model list.
Why the exact generation matters
A case can look almost right but still cover the camera ring, Action button or speaker. Screen protectors also differ because of screen edges and cut-outs.
